un-indie

Two new students came to my tuesday tuition. The teacher was like, "Here are your new classmates, Jessica and James". And immediately, my friend elbowed me and practically screamed : "OHMYGOD, TEAM ROCKET!". And she was right!! Jessie and James!!!

Yeah, I thought that was pretty awesome.

I get frustrated when people claim they're a fan of something, when THEY'RE NOT. For example, in the middle of a conversation, you might mention a band you're in love with. And then they're like, "OMG? Me too!"

So you try to engage them in conversation, right, because it is quite exciting to find people with common interests. However, after a couple of minutes, it becomes clear that the other person is not only NOT a fan like they say, but they've only heard a couple of songs, and they don't even know the songs well enough to dicuss CHORUS lyrics with you. Come on! CHORUS! The basic of the basic!

Sheesh. A message to people out there: s'ok to admit you like mainstream. Seriously. Indie is getting so overrated, to the point where people are actually lying about their music preferences.

So I guess the cliched moral of this post is to stop being someone you're not, because, in the words of gossipgirl (biblical reference included), "The truth will always come out, and when it does, the truth will set you free"
